VIT University-Vellore website redesigned by students
VIT University’s website, which has been rebuilt by a group of students, was launched on November 5. The site includes a number of new features and sections that make it user-friendly
Vellore
A team of 20 students from engineering, arts and science streams have rebuilt the VIT University’s website. The site was launched by the VIT University Vice-President Sekar Viswanathan. The title of the domain remains the same, www.vit.ac.in, but with added inputs detailing the activities inside the campus of the university.
All the 85 plus VIT’s Clubs and chapters will be able to showcase their events and achievements, on the rebuilt website. Another prominent feature of the site is Google Street View, which has been activated all over the university. The new feature will help outsiders to have a virtual reality experience of the VIT campus right from their homes.
Video embedding, dynamic sliders and in-focus sections are some of the new features. These give an insight into the university’s activities. The website was built on latest technologies like Material CSS and Angular JS, provided by Google. Dheeraj Nanduri, Shamvil Raza (students) and faculty Vikram Sundararaj demonstrated the upgraded version of the website. Pro-VC Dr S.Narayanan also presided over the presentation.
