My biggest source of inspiration as a chef is my mother, who is an amazing cook. I began to cook at home only after I got married and moved out of the house. 

I love Lucknowi and Mughlai foods, though my mother used to make international cuisines like Italian and Mexican a lot at home. I love the flavours and the process. My wife does not know how to cook. So I handle all the meals at home. I go grocery shopping, too. When she cooks, she sticks to a recipe, while I like to experiment. There is no such thing as the kitchen being only for a man or a woman. The best chefs in the world are men, after all! But at the end of the day, it is about putting food on the table and enjoying yourself while you do so. 

It started as a stress buster. I would make something and feel relaxed. Even if it was for one or two hours, it was a way to release my stress. I would come home from work at 10 pm or 11 pm and then cook. My wife would ask, why now? But it is for me. Cooking is a hobby, but I’m trying to take it to a higher level. My brother and I are trying to open up a chaat shop in Besant Nagar. We also want to participate in private dinners.
