CSK fans can’t wait for their team to return

The internet almost errupted immediately and the memes started flowing, celebrating the arrival of the home team and their hero, MS Dhoni. 

For CSK fans, this would be the longest wait. From the looks of it, the meme makers will document every day of the wait on the internet. Dhoni was playing  for Rising Pune Supergiant, who lost the final by one run. Since RPS is not playing next year as their contract ends in 2017, along with Gujarat Lions, Dhoni will return to the CSK team. 

Hashtags like #csk #whistlepodu also made a comeback. Animal activist Shravan Krishnan posted, “Great to see Mumbai Indians win the IPL for one last time. #csk#whistlepodu #2018champions: Most Chennai fans watched the IPL this year just to support their Thala Dhoni. Actor Jai on Twitter posted:  “Waiting for the transformation!! No matter what @msdhoni for life #no7 @ ChennaiIPL waiting for #2018ipl #csk4life btw well played #MI”. 

Though RPS lost, meme-makers saw the brighter side, one meme said, “Don’t worry MSD and it’s time to say good bye to RPS and celebrate the CSK comeback in 2018.” Some of them even got creative and compared MS Dhoni to Baahubali who would resurface with the yellow armour in 2018 IPL.

Though there is a year left for the next series the fans are excited and have decided to paint the town yellow. “I have not taken much interest in IPL ever since CSK was banned. I’d just watch Pune matches to watch Dhoni play, that too I’d wear the CSK jersey on,” says Prashanth Kumar, a die-hard CSK fan and also a meme maker for a popular Facebook page. “We have decided to dedicate regular CSK updates and memes till the next IPL starts. Thinking about watching the team entering the stadium in yellow gives me goosebumps,” he adds.
