Lyca backs off from producing SK-Vignesh Shivn film
The director of the film Vignesh Shivn had quoted Rs 70 crore as the film’s budget, which was a cause for concern for the producers as they believe that the project wouldn’t recover the investment.

Sivakarthikeyan, who is currently shooting for the final schedule of Hero, was expected to join the sets of his next with his best friend and director Vignesh Shivn, which was supposed to be bankrolled by Lyca Productions. The latest we hear from reliable sources is that the production house has backed off from bankrolling the project. “The film required a whopping Rs 70 crore, which according to the production house, is on the higher side considering Sivakarthikeyan’s current market value. Though Enga Veetu Pillai was a profitable venture at the box-office, Lyca felt that a SK film made on such a huge budget will not recover the investment,” the source said.
Another reason for the film to be dropped, according to our sources, is that the project was approved by Karunamoorthy, who had an unceremonious exit from Lyca after he was accused by the people at the helm of swindling money. Lyca currently has Darbar, Indian 2, Ponniyin Selvan, Mafia and Raangi among other in various stages of production. Apart from Hero, Sivakarthikeyan will resume the shoot of his long-delayed sci-fi flick with director R Ravikumar of Indru Netru Naalai fame.
