IndiGo resumes partial operations at Chennai airport; 48 flights cancelled today

CHENNAI: IndiGo resumed partial services at Chennai airport early Sunday after suspending all flights on Saturday afternoon due to a nationwide shortage of cockpit and cabin crew, but full operations are yet to return. The first flight took off for Pune at 3 a.m., followed by departures to several cities, with the airline saying more services will be restored through the day. Despite this, IndiGo cancelled 48 flights — 28 departures and 20 arrivals — to and from Chennai, adding to four days of widespread disruption that left passengers stranded and terminals crowded. The airline said cancellations will gradually reduce and normal schedules are expected to resume by December 10, while passengers noted that advance announcements on Sunday offered some relief.
