Speaking in the teaser launch event of the film, Vijay Sethupathi said, "Mysskin did a wonderful thing while making this film. Just by spending Rs 2000 everyday, he extracted work from people wonderfully well."

Going on to explain what he meant by that, Vijay Sethupathi said, "Mysskin announced a reward of Rs 1000 to the best technician and the best junior artiste on set each day. Just to win the award, everybody worked really well. The money part of it was only secondary. The manner in which that money was presented made all the difference."

He explained, "One day, I would present it to the best technician and the junior artiste, on another day, the film's heroine would present it to the technician and junior artiste picked as the best on that day. Picking the winners and acknowledging their work on stage gave the winners great happiness. Every day, the set of the film would appear like the stage put up for a festival."

He went on to say, "Mysskin is someone who observes everyone around him. He treats everybody with kindness. He is someone who willingly shares -- be it knowledge or kindness -- with others."

Already, the makers of the film have confirmed that the film will release in August this year.

For the unaware, director Mysskin's fast-paced action thriller, 'Train', featuring actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, has triggered huge interest in fans and film buffs ever since the makers released a teaser on Sunday.

The high octane 43-second teaser shows a speeding train under the control of some vicious people. Scared passengers fearing for their lives look on as one man (Vijay Sethupathi) wages a lone battle. It's evident from the teaser that the train, which resembles a speeding monster, is not halting at any station that it is scheduled to stop at. More significantly, those who seem to have taken control of the train seem to have come well prepared. What is their mission? Who are these people? And who importantly is the person trying to take them on? Like all other Mysskin thrillers, 'Train' too promises to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

Train, which is being produced by V Creations and directed by Mysskin, will feature a host of stars including Nasser, Shruti Haasan, Yugi Sethu, Narain, KS Ravikumar, Sampath Raj, Kalaiyarasan, Ira Dayanand and Preethy Karan.

The film has cinematography by Fowzia Fathima and music by Mysskin himself.

Raaka

Allu Arjun's upcoming film ‘Raaka’, directed by Atlee, is touted to be a science fiction action film mounted on a huge budget. The movie is reportedly set in an alternative world and will have him playing various roles. Deepika Padukone will headline the film while Rashmika Mandanna is reportedly set to appear in a significant role, as per reports.

Since the CGI work for ‘Raaka’ requires time, Allu Arjun is planning to complete the shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film. A look test was reportedly completed recently while a special promo shoot for the film is likely to begin soon. The full-scale shooting may begin in October 2026 and be completed by March 2027. Anirudh is composing the music for the film, which is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

Basil Joseph, director of the blockbuster Malayalam superhero film Minnal Murali, is set to team up with Allu Arjun for a new superhero project. Though initially rumoured to be a Shaktimaan film, the project has been confirmed as an original story. The collaboration marks Allu Arjun's first film with a Malayali director. Produced by Allu Aravind's Geetha Arts, the film is expected to release by the end of 2027. Allu Arjun has a huge fan base in Kerala where he is lovingly referred to as 'Mallu Arjun.'

Basil on July 14 shared a cryptic Instagram post of a picture of a cap emblazoned "icon" paired with a hit song from Allu Arjun's 'Arya 2'.

Allu Arjun is reportedly in talks to team up with a leading Telugu director for his 25th milestone film. This project is also expected to be released pan-India and be made on a huge budget. With the CGI work delaying ‘Raaka’, Lokesh’s film may be the first to release from this pan-India lineup, followed by Basil Joseph’s superhero film.

The revelation was made as part of the birthday celebrations of actor Kiran Abbavaram, who celebrates his birthday on Wednesday. Mass Movie Makers, the production house producing the film, took to its social media timelines to make the announcement.

It wrote, "Wishing our Hero @kiran_abbavaram a very Happy Birthday! Get ready to witness his memorable performance as STEVEN SANKAR, that’ll touch every heart stay with you all forever. See you in cinemas worldwide on July 24. #ChennaiLoveStoryOnJuly24"

For the unaware, Sri Gouri Priya plays the female lead in this film opposite Kiran Abbavaram. She shot to fame with her performance in the Tamil romantic drama 'Lover', which went on to emerge not just a superhit film. Lover not only set the cash registers ringing at the box office, it was also hailed by the critics for its content that dealt with toxic relationships.

While Kiran Abbavaram plays a character called Steven Sankar in Chennai Love Story, Sri Gouri Priya plays a character called Nivi in the film.

A teaser released by the makers earlier shows Steven Sankar and Nivi having a conversation at a beach. Nivi asks Steven Sankar if he has watched the film 'Baby' and praises the way they have portrayed first love in it. She says that if one's first love fails, life turns into hell. She says an individual's first love is pure and that there is an element of truth in it, seeking to suggest that all other love affairs that happen after it aren't as honest or pure.

Steven Sankar responds to her argument saying, "If first love is the only one that is pure and honest, shouldn't all our love stories stop with our mothers. For isn't every individual's first love his/her mother?" Stating that there are several iconic love stories in history, Steven Sankar points out that for the protagonists of such stories, the love story for which they became famous wasn't their first love. He says that if one's first love fails for some reason, one's best love is about to start somewhere else. Apart from directing the film, Ravi Namburii has also penned its screenplay. The film's story is by Sai Rajesh, who is also one of the producers of the film.

The film is being produced by SKN under the banners of Mass Movie Makers and Amrutha Productions. The film is being co-produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni. On the technical front, the film has music by Mani Sharma. Cinematography for the film is by the very capable Viswas Daniel while lyrics for the songs in the film are by Anantha Sriram.

Bhaskar Mudavat is in charge of art direction while Santhosh Naidu has been assigned the responsibility of editing the film. Costumes are by Devi Parchuri and the film is being co-directed by Lucky Bezawada.

It was one of the most widely anticipated film, as Vijay fans and industry experts waited for the actor’s final film project as an actor before he entered full-time politics.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has brought together a number of leading names, including actors and technicians.

The 30-year-old, who made a splash with his turn as Spider-Man in a series of movies, plays Odysseus's son Telemachus in Nolan’s long-awaited film based on Homer’s epic about a war-weary hero’s treacherous journey back home.

The retelling of the story from Greek mythology is an action heavy exercise with monsters, vengeful gods and other fantastical characters. There were moments when Holland was present on the sets but required to do nothing. Those stand out for him.

"What I love about being an actor is that there are times on set where you really get to stand in the middle of the room and do nothing. And that's when the camera's not rolling,” Holland told PTI in an interview.

"And for me, I like to learn from people by watching them and watching the way they behave and treat people and work with people. So for me, I had the perfect footprints to try and follow in Annie and in Matt. So, I was kind of spoilt for choice when it comes to lessons," he said.

Nolan, Damon and Holland were in Mumbai this weekend for the India premiere as part of a global tour.

Working with Nolan was like a dream come true for the young actor who had long been told that he must do whatever it takes to get himself on a film by the director.

"I definitely had a very long conversation with Robert Downey (Jr)," Holland said, referring to his Marvel co-star who won an Oscar for best supporting actor for Nolan's last release "Oppenheimer".

"And then one of my best friends in life has worked with Chris for, I think, 20 years. He's our stunt coordinator. And every time he and I would get together for dinner, he would tell me, 'You have to do whatever it takes to find yourself on a Christopher Nolan set'."

It finally happened.

"The Odyssey", arguably Nolan’s most ambitious film, is one that Holland describes as a first of its kind.

"For a community of people that love cinema as much as you guys do here, this will be one of those moments you'll be comparing every cinema experience you have after this one to 'The Odyssey'," he told PTI.

Holland didn’t have as many action sequences as Damon, who plays Odysseus. But there were challenges aplenty.

"I think the biggest challenge, and I feel a little embarrassed saying this because I didn't work as hard as Matt did, but it was the endurance. This story is epic and the adventure that we're going on is as grand as any. And finding that energy and keeping up that momentum for the duration of the shoot was really, really difficult.

"I can only imagine what that must have been like for Matt and his crew. It was just the daily struggle of trying to make sure that what we were doing felt epic for me was probably the biggest challenge," Holland said.

This was the “Uncharted” star’s second visit to Mumbai. He had come earlier in 2023 for an event.

“ I am always touched by how welcoming everyone is. I want to see the countryside. I want to kind of explore more outside the bigger cities and meet people," he said.

Holland also recounted a dinner experience during his three-day visit this time.

"It wasn't just a dinner. It was an experience. Every dish came with a piece of knowledge and information about Indian culture, you know, even as far as the cutlery we used to the types of cups we were using. And for me coming here, I come from England and we have a huge Indian population in England,” he said.

"The Odyssey" also features Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Samantha Morton, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie and John Leguizamo.

Produced by Universal Pictures and Syncopy, "The Odyssey" will release in theatres across the world, including India, on July 17.

Packed with light-hearted moments and fantasy elements, the teaser showcases Fahadh in an energetic and fun-filled avatar. The young actor playing the little girl also leaves an impression with her performance. Don’t Trouble the Trouble marks SS Karthikeya’s latest production venture following the success of Premalu, which he distributed under the Showing Business banner. The film is presented by Arka Media Works, the production house behind the blockbuster Baahubali franchise.

The film is slated for a theatrical release on September 11.

Producer Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios also praised the collaboration, noting that Tumbbad 2 marks his banner’s third project with Alia after Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR. He said the actor immediately connected with the vision of the sequel and would be seen in a never-before-seen avatar.

Directed by Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad 2 is being produced by Sohum Shah Films in association with Pen Studios. The film is slated to release in theatres on December 3, 2027.

Sharing his views on the changing landscape of Indian cinema, Sesh said the continued classification of films as Hindi, Telugu or Tamil reflects an invisible barrier that still exists within the industry.

“I find it interesting that we still call films ‘Hindi films’, ‘Telugu films’, ‘Tamil films’, and then separately use the term ‘pan-India film’. If a film can emotionally connect with audiences across the country, why should its identity be restricted by language in the first place? The moment we stop looking at stories through linguistic boundaries and start embracing them as Indian stories, that’s when pan-India cinema will truly exist,” he said.

The actor added that language should serve only as a medium of expression and not as a limitation. According to him, audiences have already embraced stories irrespective of where they originate, and the industry now needs to match that mindset.

“As creators, our responsibility is to tell authentic stories and make them accessible to everyone. The dream should be to create films that belong to the entire country, not just one language market,” he said.

Sesh’s remarks come as multilingual releases continue to gain momentum across the country. His upcoming film Dacoit was simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi before being dubbed into multiple languages, reflecting the growing trend of films targeting a nationwide audience. Having earlier reached viewers across linguistic markets with Sesh said the future of Indian cinema lies in collaboration and storytelling that transcends language and geography.

However, we were taken by surprise when we meet Divyabharathi and Poornima Ravi, the female leads who also look their part from the series.

Kathir has juggled between performance-oriented films, offbeat series and commercial potboilers.

“Despite all these, I haven’t done anything like this before. That lured me into doing Lingam. When I heard the script of Lingam, I was excited but beyond that I was happy that the makers had faith in me that I could do this. Predominantly, people have seen me playing innocent characters, thanks to my looks. I also had to prove to them that I can pull off such roles. To do Lingam, I gave back the advance I had received for another film,” he says.

Divyabharathi was looking at Kathir’s face on where that iota of innocence is long gone and Kathir pulls her leg. “I was quietly listening to you when you spoke to Kathir. Now is my turn,” she says.

“I have done movies which had me in pastoral looks. But when I was approached for Lingam, I asked myself if I could do the role with conviction in a series. It was more of experimentation and was a great learning curve in terms of looks and mannerisms. There are people who tend to stereotype a lot and I didn’t want to be typecast. I am proud of the industry I am in because I was able to explore and every actor now has the scope to experiment,” she adds.

Poornima Ravi rose into fame with her YouTube Channel and reality shows. When it comes to Lingam, she lauds her team.

“The technical team as well as the cast is top notch. Moreover, the character I play is bold and is substantial in terms of the story line. This is a periodical subject and personally I am a fan of such stories. Lingam is inspired by real-life events. I couldn’t say no,” she opens up.

Shahir is back after a long hiatus and he says that the break wasn’t planned. “Things just didn’t fall in pace as far as my acting career is concerned. Then I got married and became busy with life. I don’t see the break as a huge roadblock.

Lingam is the answer to my search. I play a character of grey in Lingam, which I felt will give me the liberty to explore. Also, the looks each of us sport in the series helped us in getting into the skin of our characters. I am sure more people will enjoy watching the show of friendship, love, betrayal and much more with Lingam in coming days,” he concludes.

His plea had challenged the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) case against him, after he sought liberty to approach the court again once the trial court passes orders on the closure report from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC).

The enforcement agency's case is based on a suo motu FIR registered by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in September 2022 against former AIADMK Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, Ishari K Ganesh, Vels Medical College Dean Dr K Srinivasaraja, and four government doctors under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA), 1988.

The anti-corruption watchdog alleged that Ganesh had bribed Vijayabaskar in 2020 to obtain an essentiality certificate for Vels Medical College, enabling it to admit 150 MBBS students. Challenging the ED case, Ishari K Ganesh had moved the Madras High Court.

When the matter came up for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice SA Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan, the petitioner's counsel submitted that although the DVAC had filed the closure report before the trial court in 2024, it had not yet been accepted.

As the predicate offence had not attained finality, he sought permission to withdraw the petition, with liberty to file a fresh plea after the trial court passes orders on the closure report.

Recording the submission, the division bench permitted the withdrawal and dismissed the petition as withdrawn.

With only two days of filming left, the sequel is expected to complete production soon, said a Maalaimalar report.

While an official announcement is yet to be made, the makers are reportedly planning to release the film in theatres this September.

A sequel after nearly a decade

Meesaya Murukku, released in 2017, marked Aadhi's debut as both an actor and director and became a blockbuster. Nearly a decade later, he is returning with the sequel.

The film's title teaser has already created excitement among fans. The story is set across two different time periods the 1980s and the present day. Aadhi will be seen in a dual role, including that of a young musician who challenges traditional views on Indian classical music.

Like the first film, Aadhi has handled the story, screenplay, dialogues, direction, music and lyrics for Meesaya Murukku 2.

The film also stars Chaithra J Achar, Ramya Ranganathan and Ketika Sharma as the female leads. Nassar, Aadukalam Naren, Karunas, Sha Ra and Harshath Khan play key supporting roles.

The songs Pappali Pazhame and Aura 10/10, released earlier, have received a good response online. The makers are expected to announce the official release date after the shooting is completed.

As per Variety, Sony Pictures will distribute the film in North America, while Amazon MGM Studios will handle international distribution. Jennifer Kluska and Alan Hawkins will direct the film, with Lawrence Jonas serving as producer. Franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky and Michelle Murdocca are attached as executive producers.

Announcing the new instalment, Kristine Belson and Damien de Froberville, Presidents of Sony Pictures Animation, said, "From the beginning, 'Hotel Transylvania' has invited audiences into a world where monsters feel like family.

According to the official synopsis, Dracula has settled into retirement while his daughter, Mavis, now runs the legendary monster hotel.

However, a series of mysterious and spooky incidents disrupts life at the resort, prompting the Drac Pack to investigate the mystery behind 'The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania.

The original "Hotel Transylvania' debuted in theatres in 2012 and grossed USD 355 million worldwide, launching a successful global franchise.

Its sequels, 'Hotel Transylvania 2' and 'Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation," earned USD 475 million and USD 530 million globally, as per Variety.

The fourth film, 'Hotel Transylvania: Transformania,' premiered exclusively on Prime Video in 2022.

With 'The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania,' the franchise returns to theatres after its previous instalment skipped a theatrical release, bringing Dracula, Mavis and the Drac Pack back to the big screen in October 2027.

According to a court filing submitted on Monday, July 13, Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios argued that Lively's application is "anything but a typical fee motion", alleging that her legal team billed excessive hours and charged unreasonable rates, as reported by People magazine.

The filing compares Lively's request with an attorney fee application previously submitted by The New York Times, arguing that the newspaper sought only USD 181,622.70 in legal fees after successfully moving to dismiss what Baldoni's lawyers described as "precisely the same defamation claim," as per People magazine.

In 2024, Baldoni sued The New York Times for USD 250 million, alleging the publication defamed him by reporting that he and his public relations team had engaged in a "smear campaign" against Lively. That claim was later dismissed.

Baldoni's latest filing also contends that Lively's legal team overstaffed the case. It claims there were multiple lawyers attending the same hearings, excessive internal conferences and strategy meetings, and 7,070.20 billable hours logged by 82 timekeepers, which it says is around 20 times higher than amounts previously approved in comparable high-profile defamation cases.

"The most cursory review of Lively's submission shows multiple lawyers at the same hearings, numerous charges for lawyers conferencing, conferring, or strategising with one another, and, to put it mildly, extremely excessive research and online investigation," the filing states, as per People magazine.

Along with attorneys' fees, Lively is seeking USD 539,514,01 in litigation costs and expenses. Baldoni's filing describes that amount as "a whopping sum.

The filing asks Judge Lewis Liman to reject the request entirely or significantly reduce any award.

"Lively fails to meet her burden to present credible evidence showing that the fees and costs she seeks to recover are reasonable and, accordingly, her fee motion should be denied in its entirety," the filing argues, adding, "At minimum, the Court should substantially reduce the request, using as a benchmark the USD 181,622.70 the Times sought after securing dismissal of Count II on its separate motion to dismiss, the same outcome Lively achieved," as quoted by People magazine.

The legal dispute began following the production and promotion of 'It Ends With Us'. Lively sued Baldoni in December 2024, after which Baldoni filed a USD 400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. Judge Liman dismissed the countersuit in June 2025.

Following that decision, Lively filed a motion seeking USD 7,495,526.87 in attorneys' fees and USD 539,514.01 in litigation costs and expenses under California Civil Code Section 47.1, arguing that the fees arose from the "successful defense of the Wayfarer Action."

As per People magazine, her filing states the legal work covered the period from January 2025, when Baldoni filed his countersuit, through June 2025, when the deadline to amend the dismissed complaint expired.

Lively's attorneys argued that the work performed was "comprehensive and necessary to achieve the complete win that was secured," adding that Lively "has paid, and continues to pay her legal bills. They also said she intends to seek additional attorneys' fees incurred while litigating the fee application.

After filing the motion, Lively's attorneys, Michael Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, said the application carried broader significance.

"Thanks to this landmark decision, those considering using a lawsuit as a weapon of intimidation have been put on notice that there are consequences for doing so, they said in a statement, adding, "The value of this ruling is in the precedent it creates, the accountability it imposes, and the protection it provides to those who may one day find themselves facing similar retaliation for speaking the truth," as per People magazine.

Lively's filing also argues that the case's unusually high public profile increased litigation costs due to extensive media attention, significant discovery and motion practice, including the production of more than 7,000 documents by Lively and tens of thousands more from Wayfarer parties and third parties.

The broader litigation between the parties was settled in May. Judge Lewis Liman must now decide whether Baldoni is required to pay Lively's attorneys fees and litigation costs related to his counterclaim, and if so, determine the amount.

Separately, Baldoni addressed the legal battle publicly for the first time in an Instagram video posted on July 8 alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni.

"We don't even know if this is the right thing to say," Justin Baldoni said, adding. "We just know we need to share something. What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple of years. That created so much noise, and we didn't want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course," as quoted by People magazine.

Emily Baldoni added that while they have "immense gratitude" for their supporters, it "doesn't negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years," saying the couple experienced "a lot of trauma" that made it difficult to speak publicly.

The film, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, marks Rajinikanth's 173rd film. Initially referred to as Thalaivar 173, the makers recently unveiled the official title, Dharman, further raising expectations among fans.

Intro song, action scenes completed

According to the report, the production team is currently filming extensively in Chennai and plans to complete a majority of the movie's schedule in the city. The report further states that Rajinikanth's grand introductory song, choreographed by Sandy Master, has already been shot. High-octane action sequences designed by stunt choreographers Anbariv have also been completed as part of the ongoing schedule.

The latest development has heightened anticipation among fans, who are eagerly awaiting the next official update from the production house.

Star-studded cast

The film brings together an ensemble cast. Reports suggest that filmmaker Shankar will play the principal antagonist, while Malayalam actor Basil Joseph has been cast as Rajinikanth's son. Actress Simran is also said to be playing a pivotal role in the film, although the makers are yet to officially confirm the casting details.

Ashwath Marimuthu, who previously directed successful films such as Oh My Kadavule and Dragon, is directing the project. Kamal Haasan is backing the film through his banner Raaj Kamal Films International.

Rajinikanth to play a doctor

According to the report, Rajinikanth will be seen portraying a doctor in the action entertainer. Earlier, Ashwath Marimuthu had said the film would deliver an experience comparable to a blend of Padayappa and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, combining emotionally driven storytelling with commercial action elements.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has already completed filming his portions for Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar which is all set to release on 15 October 2026, and has now shifted his complete focus to Dharman. With production progressing steadily, industry circles expect the makers to announce further promotional updates in the coming weeks.

At the teaser launch event of the film, which was held recently, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, whose V Creations is producing the film, said, "Let us do it this August" during the course of his speech.

His announcement thrilled, director Mysskin, who, in a lighter vein, tried to make the producer commit to a release date.

"Oh my God, is that so sir. Please announce the date as well," he said, in an excited tone.

When the producer smiled and refrained from announcing a date, he pretended as if the producer had announced August 14 as the release date and said, "But Suriya's film is releasing on August 14 sir..."

Laughing, producer Thanu pointed out that he had only said that the film would release in August and that he had not mentioned August 14, making the auditorium erupt in laughter.

For the unaware, director Mysskin's fast-paced action thriller, 'Train', featuring actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, has triggered huge interest in fans and film buffs ever since the makers released a teaser on Sunday.

The high octane 43-second teaser shows a speeding train under the control of some vicious people. Scared passengers fearing for their lives look on as one man (Vijay Sethupathi) wages a lone battle. It's evident from the teaser that the train, which resembles a speeding monster, is not halting at any station that it is scheduled to stop at. More significantly, those who seem to have taken control of the train seem to have come well prepared. What is their mission? Who are these people? And who importantly is the person trying to take them on? Like all other Mysskin thrillers, 'Train' too promises to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

Train, which is being produced by V Creations and directed by Mysskin, will feature a host of stars including Nasser, Shruti Haasan, Yugi Sethu, Narain, KS Ravikumar, Sampath Raj, Kalaiyarasan, Ira Dayanand and Preethy Karan.

The film has cinematography by Fowzia Fathima and music by Mysskin himself.

Interestingly, Narain in a post on social media last year had released pictures of himself on the sets of Train. The pictures revealed that he was playing a police officer in the film. The disclosure led to speculation if whether Mysskin was attempting to build a Mysskin Cinematic Universe with Train. The reason for the speculation was that Narain had also played the role of a cop in Mysskin’s superhit film ‘Anjaathey’. However, there has been no confirmation regarding this.

The teaser of the film was recently unveiled, and it introduces Akshara Haasan as Nivi. It offers the audiences a glimpse into a futuristic world where memories can be rewritten through neural brain chips.

Talking about her role, Akshara Haasan shared, "Nivi is a very different character that I’ve played. This time I feel it required a different maturity level as a person and therefore a character. With how layered the story is, I discovered a side of me as an actor and got to explore emotions and complexities of emotions colliding. It challenged me as an actor. I truly enjoyed performing the character Nivi”.

The film is set in an imminent near-future where human lives are governed by neural brain chips, Simulacra explores a world where tech giants allow people to tailor, rewrite, or completely erase their personal memories. The plot follows two pedestrians, Nayan (played by Satyajeet Dubey) and Nivi (played by Akshara Haasan), who cross paths in a society increasingly reliant on trans-humanism.

Nayan claims a deep, intimate history with Nivi, presenting photographs stored directly in his neural memory vault. Nivi, however, has absolutely no recollection of him—her own vault reads entirely blank. As Nayan attempts to recreate their past to spark her memory, the two begin developing real feelings for each other.

Satyajeet Dubey said, "What intrigued me about ‘Simulacra’ was the film’s exploration of objective and subjective reality, identity, relationships, and how technology increasingly blurs the lines between what’s real and what’s perceived. Those themes feel quite relevant today, especially in the age of AI. I found his (director Pankaj Sawant’s) intent to tell this story and his eagerness to bring it to life really inspiring, and I felt compelled to be part of that journey”.

The glimpses give away that the story is about incidents revolving around a certain community and has been filmed in a realistic manner. “The story is about the Kadar community in the western ghats and how a collector stands up for them. We showed him the footage of what people living in those regions go through. After watching them, he agreed to do the movie and played his part perfectly. One of Arulnithi’s friends who heard the narration too said that this will be one of his best roles,” adds Ganesh.

Aarav, after doing urban roles, is seen in a rustic avatar with Arulvaan. “It is not only about Aarav’s look. He had to speak the Kadar dialect and carried it with perfection. This is supposed to be Asia’s first language. That is not something one can speak immediately after they listen to it. The emotions have to be in the right place and the intonations have to be perfect. Aarav did a commendable job.”

Ganesh is also happy about the film’s release on July 17. “My debut movie Thaen won several international film awards but the release window was such that people couldn’t come into theatres in huge numbers because of COVID-19. Now, Arulvaan is releasing at the right time and I am sure it will be appreciated by the audience,” he concludes.

Nine years later, he brought me on board for a project written and directed by him, which makes Enna Vilai extremely special to me,”she adds.

According to Deadline, the New Zealand actor died in Australia, months after he revealed being cancer-free after years of battling the condition.

In a statement shared on the actor's official social media handle, Sam Neill was surrounded by his family members during his final moments.

"It is with immense sadness that the whanau of Sam Neill share the news of his passing on Monday 13th July 2026 in Sydney, Australia. Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterised his whole life. The loss was sudden and unexpected, but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free. The Oscar-winning filmmaker also explained why his adaptation of Homer's classic poem features modern dialogue, describing the creative decision as an effort to make the story feel fresh and accessible for contemporary viewers.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan, in a recent interview responded to criticism that emerged following the release of promotional material for 'The Odyssey'.

The film has sparked online debate over some casting choices as well as the use of American accents and modern dialogue.

"Comes with the territory," Nolan said, adding, "But look, these conversations that happen before people see the film, they're always irrelevant, because no one having them knows what the film actually is yet," as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Ledger later received a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.

"In the end, fans of the property, even when we were doing something that was not what they would have done, enjoyed the sincerity of the attempt to put as good a version of it on screen as we could," Nolan said.

"So, when it comes to The Odyssey, all I can do is make the best film I possibly can in the most sincere way. It's very different from how anyone else would do it, but that's what adaptation is," he said as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Nolan has also defended the film's use of modern dialogue. In a separate interview to a publication, he said the approach was intended to capture the grounded and accessible nature of Homer's original work rather than present an overly formal interpretation of the ancient world.

" When you look at the ancient world, people tend to view the ancient world in weird ways and there's a lot of cultural prejudice, elevating it just because it's old." he said, adding. "When you go to the poem, what you find is something that's really earthy, grounded and accessible. So, for me, in building the world of the film, what I talk to all the actors about is, I want to center it on that and make it feel very fresh for modern audiences and do away with some of those assumptions," as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Following the film's casting announcement, podcast host Matt Walsh criticised Lupita Nyong'o's casting as Helen of Troy in posts on X. Elon Musk replied to one of Walsh's posts in agreement and also interacted with posts mocking Elliot Page's casting as Sinon.

'The Odyssey' stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, whose long journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War reunites him with his wife Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway, and son Telemachus, portrayed by Tom Holland.

The ensemble cast also includes Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Travis Scott, Charlize Theron and Elliot Page. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on July 17.

Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja expressed his grief over the demise of legendary playback singer S Janaki, describing the news as “deeply saddening” and “shocking.” In a video message, the composer paid tribute to her extraordinary talent, unwavering dedication, and enduring contribution to Indian cinema music.

Reflecting on her life, Ilaiyaraaja said Janaki had endured immense personal hardships and sorrow, adding that many great artistes across the world often carried deep pain in their personal lives. Despite these struggles, he said, she consistently proved through every song that she was second to none in talent and remained an exceptionally hardworking artiste.

Calling her passing “a monumental loss to the Indian film music industry,” Ilaiyaraaja also acknowledged Janaki’s work as a composer of several devotional songs.

The film marks Mysskin’s debut as a music composer ,while Kalaipuli S Thanu is backing the project under V Creations. The cast also includes Shruti Haasan, Dimple Hayathi and Nassar.

The teaser sets the tone for a haunting psychological thriller, with most of the narrative unfolding aboard a moving train. Packed with scary visuals, mysterious passengers, violent confrontations and unexplained incidents, With glimpses of Vijay Sethupathi caught in a mystery, the teaser hints at a psychological thriller where every compartment appears to hide a secret.

Mysskin’s signature dark storytelling is complemented by  background score composed by the filmmaker himself, heightening the sense of mystery and tension throughout the teaser.

Ahead of the teaser launch, the makers had released the first single, Kannakkuzhikaaraa which was sung by Shruti Haasan and composed by Mysskin, with lyrics by Kabilan.

Train has been in the making since late 2023 and completed production last year, with fans eagerly awaiting updates after a prolonged post-production phase. With the teaser now out, expectations have raised for the first-ever collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and Mysskin.  

The singer died in a private hospital at the age of 88 following respiratory problem on Saturday evening.

As announced by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, a police team offered her gun salute amid the national anthem.

Janaki's granddaughter Apsara Vydyula performed the last rites by lighting her grandmother's pyre amid the chanting of Vedic hymns.

Carrying the earthen pot, she circumambulated the burning pyre.

Breaking the convention, which traditionally had been restricted to men, Apsara completed the rituals.

Apsara Vydyula is the daughter of Murali Krishna, Janaki's son, who passed away on January 22, this year.

Prior to being taken to Kariyanahundi, Janaki's mortal remains were kept for public viewing at Maharaja College Ground, where several film actors, actresses, playback singers from Kannada and southern film industry along with thousands of general people paid their last respect.

Mysuru district in charge minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah too was present on behalf of the state government to pay homage to the departed soul.

Expressing his condolences, Shivakumar told reporters in Bengaluru that his government would explore ways to immortalise Janaki's legacy, as he described her as one of India's greatest musical icons.

He also said he would hold discussions with members of the film industry on measures to preserve her legacy.

"One of India's most iconic personalities, the legendary playback singer who came to be known as the 'Gana Kogile' (Nightingale of Song), Janaki, is no longer with us. She served our film industry in all languages for nearly 50 years," Shivakumar said.

Janaki was born on April 23, 1938, in Pallapatla, Guntur, in Andhra Pradesh, who made Mysuru her home and as per her wish her last rites were performed in this royal city.

Known for her versatility, Janaki recorded over 48,000 songs in multiple languages, predominantly the South Indian languages of Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Over a career spanning six decades, she sang for films, albums, television and radio in about 20 Indian languages, including Hindi, Odia, Tulu, Urdu, Punjabi and Bengali.

Fondly known as "Janaki amma" among her disciples and followers, she was regarded as 'Gana Kogile'.

Janaki began her singing career with the Tamil film 'Vidhiyin Vilayattu' (1957) at the age of 19.

Though she was highly popular in other South Indian languages, Janaki is said to have sung the most songs in her career in Kannada.

Her duets with legends such as P B Srinivas, S P Balasubrahmanyam and Dr Rajkumar are considered evergreen hits.

She also sang in English, Japanese, German and Sinhala.

Janaki won four National Film Awards and 33 different state film awards.

She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Mysore, the Kalaimamani award from the Tamil Nadu government, and the Rajyotsava Prashasti from the Government of Karnataka.

In 2013, she refused to accept the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award of the Government of India, saying it came too late.

Janaki had also expressed that she deserved the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award, for her contributions to music.

Plain white or uncoloured sarees and a simple, elegant style remained her signature look for a long time, following the passing of her husband, V Ramprasad, in 1997.

Mourning her demise, Congress MLA and former Minister H C Mahadevappa said her passing was a great loss to her countless fans.

He also expressed his desire to construct S Janaki memorial in the state.

Noted composer and lyricist Hamsalekha said Janaki loved all the languages and religions and served the music world for six decades.

"It is our fortune that her cremation happened in Mysuru. If her beloved disciples and family members agree, we will build a musical memorial in her name. We want the government to join hands in this," he told reporters here.

Lamenting Janaki's death, famous singer Vijay Prakash said he wanted to invite Janaki for an event but before that the tragedy occurred.

According to him, Janaki always guided newcomers. Her demise is an "irreparable loss".

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja expressed shock and grief over the death of Janaki.

Remembering Janaki as a talented and hardworking singer, the legendary music director said she had endured immense personal hardships with remarkable resilience.

Terming her passing as an "irreparable loss", he said the indian film and music industry has lost one of its greatest voices.

In a video message shared on his official X account following the veteran singer’s demise, Ilaiyaraaja said the news had left him shocked and heartbroken.

He remembered Janaki not only as one of India’s greatest playback singers but also as a remarkably dedicated artist whose talent and commitment to perfection set her apart from everyone else.

“I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of beloved singer Janaki Amma. It is a shocking and heartbreaking piece of news,” Ilaiyaraaja said.

“She carried unbearable grief in her personal life and lived through many painful experiences. It is deeply distressing to think of the hardships she endured despite bringing immense joy to millions through her music,” he said.

Reflecting on their long professional association, the composer said S. Janaki’s brilliance was unmatched and that every song she sang stood as proof of her exceptional artistry.

According to him, no other singer could truly be compared with her because she brought a rare combination of emotion, technical perfection and dedication to every performance.

Ilaiyaraaja recalled that Janaki would never settle for anything less than excellence in the recording studio. Whenever he expected a particular expression or nuance in a song, she would tirelessly rehearse and refine her rendition until it perfectly matched his vision.

Her relentless pursuit of perfection, he said, was one of the defining qualities that made her an extraordinary musician.

“I always worked hard to achieve the musical expression I wanted in every composition. Janaki Amma matched that commitment with equal determination and would continue refining the song until it reached perfection. In many ways, I can say she surpassed even my expectations,” he said.

Describing her death as an irreplaceable loss, Ilaiyaraaja said Indian music had lost one of its brightest and most gifted voices.

He concluded his tribute by offering prayers for her eternal peace, saying generations of music lovers would continue to cherish her unforgettable songs and the timeless legacy she leaves behind.

Sources close to the unit of the film said that the final schedule of the film had gotten underway on Sunday in Malaysia. Lending credibility to such claims, video clips of Dhanush signing autographs for fans in Malaysia began doing the rounds on social media.

Although the makers have announced that the film will hit screens on October 16 this year, sources claim that the makers are likely to change the release date. A new release date is likely to be announced soon, they claim.

It was only on Thursday last that the makers of the film welcomed well known Bollywood star Naseeruddin Shah onboard the unit of the film.

Taking to its social media timelines to announce the news that veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah had come onboard the unit of the film, Wunderbar Films, the production house of actor Dhanush, wrote, "A strong addition to the world of #OM.The veteran #NaseeruddinShah on board the mega biggie. Coming to cinemas worldwide on October 16th 2026."

Interestingly, the film's title has a tagline called Chapter 1 indicating that there could be a sequel.

A title teaser that the makers had released some time back had showed that the story revolves around those cutting red sanders for a living. Dhanush himself plays a woodcutter in the film. The teaser showed police personnel rounding up woodcutters chopping red sanders illegally. As they hold the workers hostage at gunpoint, Dhanush was seen coming to their rescue.

Wunderbar Films Head Sreyas, while speaking at the title teaser launch event, had disclosed that this would be one of the biggest budget films in Dhanush's career. He had also said that this film would bring back the mass vintage Dhanush that fans had longed to see.

The film, which features Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela as the heroines, has music by Sai Abhyankkar. Cinematography for the film is by Ezhil Arasu. Editing for the film is by Kalaivanan R and costumes are by Kavya Sriram.

It may be recalled that the makers of the film, had accorded a warm welcome to Malayalam star Mammootty when he came on board the film. Wunderbar Films, one of the production houses that is producing the film, had said, "When the Big M chooses a story, it becomes history. Super excited to welcome Megastar @mammukka onboard #D55! We are honoured! Thank you #Mammootty sir."

It may be recalled that only a few days ago, another production house called R Take Studios had announced that it was joining hands with Wunderbar Films for producing this film.

For the unaware, director Gautham Sivaraman's film featuring Abishan Jeevinth and Shiva Rajkumar in the lead is being produced by Balamurugan A under the banner of Drama Company. The film, which was launched in June this year with great fanfare, will feature Shivani Nagaram as the female lead opposite Abishan Jeevinth. Apart from the lead actors, the film will also feature a host of actors including Yogalakshmi, Gaana Vinoth, Sangeetha Madhavan and Benjamin.

Abishan Jeevinth wasn't the only one to wish Shiva Rajkumar. Several other film industry professionals too wished the Kannada star, on the occasion of his birthday on Sunday.

For the unaware, legendary singer and four-time National Award winner S Janaki, who has rendered over a whopping 48,000 songs in several Indian languages, passed away at a private hospital in Mysuru on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest.

She was 88. The Apollo BGS Hospitals in Mysuru, where she was admitted on Saturday afternoon, issued a statement soon after her demise. In its statement, the hospital said, "Mrs. S. Janaki was admitted to Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, on 11 July 2026 at 12:49 PM. On admission, her condition was critical, and she was immediately evaluated and shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further management."

The hospital informed that despite intensive medical care and continuous monitoring by a multidisciplinary team, the veteran singer suffered a cardiac arrest during the course of treatment. "Advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated immediately in accordance with standard medical protocols.

Despite resuscitative efforts, she experienced multiple cardiac arrests and could not be revived. Mrs. S. Janaki was declared deceased at 7:30 PM on 11 July 2026." The iconic singer's mortal remains have been taken to the Maharaja College Grounds in Mysuru for the public to pay homage to her.

Superstar Rajinikanth was one of the firsts in Indian film industry to condole her demise on social media.

The turning point in Tamil cinema was the film Konjum Salangai. The timeless melody Singara Velane Deva, set to music by SM Subbaiah Naidu and featuring an iconic Nadaswaram performance by Karukurichi Arunachalam, is considered a masterpiece of Tamil film music.

However, it was Ilaiyaraaja’s Annakili that solidified Janaki’s place in the hearts of the masses. The entire film’s soundtrack was a massive success, and the song Annakili Unnai Theduthe remains one of her most unforgettable contributions.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Janaki became the dominant voice for most leading heroines in Tamil cinema. During this time, recording four to five songs a day was a routine occurrence.

I have seen you work so hard right beside me, I have seen you put blood, sweat, tears. I have not seen you sit even for a second, making sure everything was going right. So I think you deserve so much love, I told you that on tenth, love will be coming and it's come. You have arrived Akhil. So I am very excited. I don't know what our next script is going to be but I can't wait for it. I can't wait to act beside you because you are a performer."

After having thanked the other members of the Lenin team, Bhagyashrii finally thanked her fans, who had constantly stood by her and encouraged her.

For the unaware, director Murali Kishor Abburu's Telugu film 'Lenin', featuring actors Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead, has now taken a strong opening in the theatres, with positive reports pouring in.

Actress Bhagyashri Borse plays the love interest of the titular character Lenin in the film. She plays a character called Bharathi in the action entertainer.

The film has cinematography by Naveen Kumar and music by Thaman. Editing for the film is by Navin Nooli.

Police have booked the actor under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. As per the complaint, the accused, who is a resident of an eastern suburb, had allegedly repeatedly called the minor on her mobile phone from his number as well as several other numbers, allegedly harassing her.

The complaint further alleges that on July 5, he confronted the girl near her residential building, chased her, picked up an argument, abused her and assaulted her by hitting her with his hands.

The police have booked him under Sections 78, 115 (2) 352 of the BNS and Section 12 of the POCSO Act. The accused called her several times from December 2025 to July 7.

‘Jana Nayagan’ is said to be based on Anil Ravipudi's ‘Bhagavanth Kesari,’ though the makers have neither confirmed nor denied this.

A source from the Tamil Nadu Film Distributors' Association had said the film will likely be screened in about 1,000 theatres in Tamil Nadu.
