CHENNAI: Due to a sharp spike in the number of fever cases in the city, Health Minister Ma Subramanian inaugurated a special medical camp in Saidapet. The surge in cases because of the spread of H3N2 across India.

The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) had issued instructions last week that action should be taken to prevent the spread of this virus.

The special fever camps were conducted in 1,300 places across the State on Friday. A report has been sent by the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine to confirm that medicines for the flu are in stock in all the 11,333 medical establishments in TN including primary health centres, urban primary health centres, government hospitals, district headquarters government hospitals, and government medical college hospitals.

“All hospitals have adequate stock of medicines and pills. Currently, the flu cases are not reported on a large scale. It’s important to get detected at an early stage and get treatment,” said Health Minister.

As per ICMR guidelines, infected persons can self-isolate at home for 4 days. It has also been advised that it can be controlled by following safety measures.

Subramanian will be visiting some of these camps held across the State.

“Even COVID-19 has started to increase all over the world and most of it is because of the Omicron variant but there is no need to panic. As there is an increase in the number of cases, more RT-PCR tests are now being conducted,” he stated.
