CHENNAI: A new CCTV footage has been released in relation to the death of a schoolgirl on July 13 in the Kallakurichi district. As per a Daily Thanthi report, R Selvi, the mother of the victim, was at the school premises around 7 pm on July 12, hours before her daughter's death.

In the video, 9 people, including her mother, could be seen present on the side and having discussion with the school management in the auditorium of Shakti Matriculation School.

This footage has now come out in contradiction to Selvi, who alleged that the school management did not call them.

Earlier, in a previous footage, the 16-year-old was seen walking on the corridor from the study room to her room using the stairs. The time of the footage was 9:30 pm on July 12, when she allegedly jumped from the third floor later that night.

“We still believe that our daughter was murdered. While the High Court has issued that my daughter killed herself, the evidence that is in the school speaks otherwise,” Selvi had said while seeking investigation into the case.

Following that, Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) C Sylendra Babu earlier announced that a special investigation team (SIT) will probe in-depth into the riot, arson and connected incidents in Kaniyamoor in Kallakurichi district on July 17.
