CHENNAI: Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan of the Madras High Court on Friday dismissed an anticipatory bail application of a man who was booked for allegedly sending messages on WhatsApp regarding the death of a Class 12 girl, in a way inducing people to involve in violence before the private school in Kallakurichi on July 17.

The judge dismissed the AB application moved by Devendran, a resident of Veppur town in the Cuddalore district. The court passed the orders after recording the submissions of the prosecution that it has prima facie evidence to show that he had sent WhatsApp messages to many people pertaining to the death of the girl.

The police objected to extending anticipatory bail to the petitioner since he was found at the scene of violence. However, the petitioner submitted that he has been running a local cable TV and newspaper and he had gone to the place of violence to collect the news.

The court rejected his contentions and dismissed the AB plea.
