Shah guides BJP, completes mission with AIADMK

The BJP which is ambitious to open a political account in Tamil Nadu through the upcoming assembly polls and the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha by poll gave a rousing reception to the BJP leader Amit Shah, who has come to Tamil Nadu at a time when the poll alliance talks have commenced among the political parties.

BJP party workers erected number of festoons and organised cultural events to pep up the visit of BJP leader, who is seen as second in command after PM Narendra Modi. BJP leader L Murugan also brought in large number of BJP workers from other districts to showcase to the BJP leader stating that the party is gaining ground in Dravidian heartland. As AIADMK leaders O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami accompanied the Amit Shah during his arrival, the AIADMK workers also gathered in large numbers.

Later in the day Amit Shah addressed a BJP internal meeting and discussed about the poll strategies that the BJP workers should focus on. He also had closed meetings with the TN senior BJP leaders discussing the poll arithmetic and alliance strategies. CM EPS and his deputy OPS also met Amit Shah at a hotel where Shah is staying tonight. The BJP leader will leave to Delhi in a special aircraft from old Chennai airport. Earlier in the day, Amit Shah while attending a government function appreciated Palaniswami and Panneerselvam for successfully fighting against COVID-19.

The Covid-19 recovery rate is as high as about 97 per cent in TN, he said. At the start of his speech, Shah also apologised for his inability to speak in Tamil, one of the world’s oldest language. Earlier BJP leader L Murugan has said that the visit of Amit Shah will instil fear among the opposition leaders. “Amit Shah ji’s visit has created a rejuvenated energy among the BJP cadres. We are elated over the direction in which our party is progressing and we will certainly ask for more seats from the AIADMK this time,”

BJP farmers wing state president GK Nagaraj told DT Next. Further lakhs of TN farmers have benefitted through PM Kissan scheme in a massive manner and this will garner more support for the BJP in the upcoming polls, Nagaraj added.

Earlier in the day, commenting about the visit of BJP leader, minister D Jayakumar said that CM EPS will speak about the release of seven Tamils booked in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. CM will submit a memorandum in this regard, D Jayakumar told reporters. Jayakumar also hinted that the AIADMK and BJP have commenced preliminary rounds of seat sharing.
