A meeting of the party district secretaries, MPs and MLAs chaired by DMK president MK Stalin via video call adopted a resolution to this effect. The meeting was convened a day after the state government arrested DMK organising secretary RS Bharathi under SC/STs (prevention of atrocities) Act and he was granted interim bail.

Warning that the DMK would directly hit the streets and organise massive protests to protect every cadre of the DMK, the party resolved that a committee of lawyers would be formed in each district to list out corruptions and fight the injustices of the AIADMK regime and to protect the party cadre affected by state’s oppression.

Listing out the arrests and complaints against DMK functionaries, including party MLAs N Karthik in Singanallur and Senthil Balaji in Karur, the resolution said that more than being undemocratic and atrocious, the unilateral actions were sheer abuse of power and preventing political parties from functioning democratically.

Cautioning that the days were not far off when police who voluntarily act at the behest of Local Administration Minister SP Velumani would be made to answer before law, the meeting resolved that the party would not tolerate the maladministration of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami-led regime which has been attempting to smear the ‘Ondrinaivom Vaa” campaign of the DMK to cover up its failure in containing coronavirus spread and corruptions during the lockdown.

Recalling the convention of the Assembly session in February and Delhi High Court rapping in the Rapid Testing Kits case, Stalin accused the CM of hosting lavish functions instead of taking preventive measures to control COVID-19 spread a few months ago and reiterated that the DMK would not be cowed by such intimidations.
