Kerala snatcher wanted in 300 cases held in Tiruchy
The city police have secured a history sheeter from Kerala, who was involved in more than 300 chain snatching cases across Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and recovered 110 sovereign gold from him.

N Mohammed Mustafa (32) from Malappuram district in Kerala has been in the list of history sheeter and wanted by the police across Tamil Nadu for cases of chain snatching, particularly in Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, Udumalpet, Pollachi, Avinashi, Palani, Karur, Dindigul, Salem and Tiruchy.
He had around 13 cases in Tiruchy district alone. “He is wanted by the Kerala police for several chain-snatching cases and was active in the offence since 2015, but came to Tamil Nadu in 2017 and was a very notorious offender,” said Deputy Commissioner (Crime and Traffic) R Vedharathinam under whose leadership, the police secured Mustafa atG-Corner, Tiruchy, on Wednesday night.
On December 26, Mustafa snatched chains from two women in Tiruchy City by covering his face and concealed his identity by wearing helmet and used a high-end two-wheeler and scared the public. Subsequently, the Tiruchy City police intensified the search for him with the identity of his bike. “Interestingly, he had Kerala Register No in the front plate while Tamil Nadu number on the back plate and this is the first arrest,” the police further said. Upon interrogation, the police were shocked to hear that he was involved in more than 300 chain-snatching cases in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Later, the police recovered 110 sovereign gold ornamentsfrom him.
