“Israel joins the United States, Canada, most of the countries of Latin America and countries in Europe in recognizing the new leadership in Venezuela,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement.

Guaido, 35, declared himself interim president on Wednesday after Maduro was sworn in for a second term. Maduro was re-elected in May in a race that was tainted by widespread allegations of fraud. Leading opposition figures were not allowed to stand in the election.
