MADURAI: Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, TRB Rajaa, inspected construction works of Tidel Park in Madurai on Sunday. The Tidel Park is coming up near the Mattuthavani integrated bus stand in Madurai.

In September 2022, CM  Stalin had said a Tidel Park would be established at Mattuthavani in Madurai with the intent to create job opportunities in the IT sector for educated youth of the city. The IT Park is being built on nearly 9.60 acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 314.29 crore, sources said.

During the inspection, G Thalapathi, Madurai North MLA, District Revenue Officer K Anbalagan, and officials from various departments accompanied, sources said. Looking forward to this development, S Rethinavelu, president of Agri and All Trade Chamber, Madurai, said CM Stalin is focusing special attention on industrial development in Madurai.

This development project should be completed in time to meet the requirements of job seekers. He also felt the need for the Metro Rail project, which seems unlikely, to come to fruition in time to cater to the growing demands of people in Madurai, as the much-awaited facility would help ease traffic congestion.

More importantly, the airport in Madurai should be elevated to an international standard. Many airlines were willing to operate flight service from Madurai to countries abroad, but the initiative should come from the Centre, he said.
