Tamil Nadu's first play park for pet dogs opened in Ooty

The facility was inaugurated by Nilgiris MP A Raja in the presence of Government Chief Whip K Ramachandran. The facility has been built from the proceeds of the Green Tax Processing Scheme.

NILGIRIS: Tamil Nadu’s first play park for pet dogs, built at a cost of Rs 42.30 lakh, was inaugurated at the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty, Nilgiris district, on Sunday. A dedicated website for registering details of pet animals was also launched.

The facility was inaugurated by Nilgiris MP A Raja in the presence of Government Chief Whip K Ramachandran. The facility has been built from the proceeds of the Green Tax Processing Scheme.

According to officials, the play park has been developed with separate play and training equipment for large and small breeds of dogs. The initiative aims to provide a designated recreational space for pet dogs and their owners in the hill town.

Speaking at the event, A Raja said the newly launched website would allow pet owners to register their details online. Owners can upload their photograph, photographs of their pets, address details, and vaccination records through the portal. He said the facility would be useful for both residents and tourists visiting Ooty.

Those present at the inauguration included Ooty MLA R Ganesh, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, PWD executive engineer Ramesh, Municipal Commissioner Ganesan, Udhagamandalam Municipality Chairperson M Vanieshwari, Deputy Chairperson Ravikumar, District Planning Committee member George, and other government officials.
