Undertrial prisoner dies of illness in Coimbatore

A 52 year old under trial prisoner at Coimbatore Central Prison died of illness on Thursday night.

 According to police, Kandasamy from Madurai, was arrested by Tirupur South police in connection with a way laying incident on May 27.


He was then lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison as an under-trial prisoner. “Over the last two days, Kandasamy fell ill and was treated in the prisoners ward at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). However he died without responding to treatment on Thursday late night,” police said.


The Race Course police have registered a case and further inquiries are on.
