CHENNAI: The government is moving forward with the preparatory works for the city’s second Greenfield airport in Parandur despite the regular protests from the villagers.

The ‘model’ houses are ready as part of the rehabilitation and resettlement process for the farmers and villagers who have given their land for the Parandur airport.

In the first phase, residential houses will be provided for 1,005 affected families. Towards this, TIDCO built two model houses to showcase the resettlement plan.

The model houses have been built within the Parandur Government Hospital campus. Each unit has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 8 lakh and measures approximately 400 square feet.

Officials pointed out that the houses have been designed with all basic amenities to ensure perfect living conditions for the families.
