TIRUCHY: It is unfortunate that the Governor RN Ravi has no deep knowledge about Tirukkural but he has been supporting the Sangh Parivar movements that are promoting the Hindutva ideologies in Tamil Nadu, said MDMK General Secretary Vaiko here on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Vaiko said, the German born Nobel laureate Dr Albert Schweitzer had described Tirukkural as the best literature of the world. He had said that it is a collection of maxims in which provides lofty wisdom.

“No one can do more research on this world doctrine than Albert Schweitzer and GU Pope has translated Tirukkural with the right note,” stressed Vaiko.

However, a group of people have been spreading a planned definition for Thirukkural. “It is unfortunate that the Governor has been backing these groups,” he said.

Vaiko also charged that the Governor has not signed as many as 14 bills sent by the State government. “Thus, the Governor has been planning to stall Tamil Nadu government’s projects,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vaiko refused the idea of BJP State president K Annamalai of having Assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha polls and ridiculed him for speakin whatever comes into his mind.
