CHENNAI: Light rain is likely at isolated places in the coastal districts of south Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats districts on Wednesday, even as most parts of the State, including Puducherry and Karaikal, are expected to remain dry, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) said.

Trough influences weather pattern

A trough of low pressure extending from interior Tamil Nadu to central Konkan via interior Karnataka at about 0.9 km above mean sea level is influencing the current weather pattern.

Rain activity to pick up from April 5

Over the next few days, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at isolated places in the southern coastal and Western Ghats districts, while dry conditions are expected to prevail elsewhere. From April 5, rainfall activity may increase slightly, with a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal likely to receive light to moderate showers.
