Jayalalithaa, a people’s Chief Minister and charismatic leader

Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao said, he was deeply shocked by the sad demise of late Chief Minister J Jalayalithaa.

She was the people’s Chief Minister and charismatic leader, he said. In his condolence message, he said “She stood as symbol of dynamism, bravery and was known for her sagacity and sharp intellect.” Jayalalithaa has struggled for more than two months in the hospital and fought the death valiantly with her indomitable will power.  “Affectionately called as ‘Amma,’ she was an embodiment of women’s empowerment and filled with indefatigable spirit. She was known for her noble qualities and sacrificed her life for the cause of the poor and downtrodden,” the Governor said. He further stated that “I fondly remember the day she received me at the Chennai Airport when I came to assume office as the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Her affectionate gesture and kind words are still afr esh in my memory. I pray to God to rest her soul in peace.”
