Avichipatti village near Dindigul plunges into grief over death of temple bull

Many from Avichipatti, a village in Natham taluk of Dindigul district, plummeted into grief after the death of a bull that was attached to Ettikulam Ayyanar Kovil.

The bull’s health broke down all of a sudden on Monday night and died. As soon as the news about the death of Ayyanar Kovil bull broke out, the whole of the village united in grief. The body of the bull was laid to rest at the village, where scores of local people paid homage, sources said. Scores of mourners bade tearful farewell to the bull. Several people from the village after paying their last respects, took out the funeral procession of the bully while carrying it on a tractor on Tuesday. Much to its credit, the temple bull also earned laurels to the village after it took part in bull taming sport ‘Jallikattu’ in world fame Alanganallur and also in its neighbouring Palamedu and Araliparai, Kosavapatti and Thavasimadai and excelled in the sport.
