3 girls die in Madurai, Tiruchy; dengue suspected

A four-year-old girl died at the Tiruchy General Hospital on Thursday, while two girls aged four and 11, died in Madurai.All three are suspected to have shown symptoms of dengue.

According to reports, R Krishka (4), daughter of Rajkumar-Marikannu from Manikandam was brought to Tiruchy GH on Wednesday, with complaints of running high fever for the last few days. She was admitted in the ICU, but died without responding to treatment on Thursday. In Madurai, Sanjana  (4) from Sellur, Madurai was taken to a private hospital after suffering from fever and cold for a week. 

A blood test showed a reduction in her platelet count and doctors advised the parents to shift her to the government hospital. However, Sanjana failed to respond to treatment and died. 

Similarly, Thiruselvi (11), was admitted to a multispeciality hospital after suffering from high fever continuously. When her platelet count dipped, she was shifted to the Madurai GH on Tuesday, but she died on Thursday.
