Army foiled an infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district near the Line of Control on Thursday morning, an army official in the Tangdhar sector said. 

“Two militants were killed in the initial exchange of firing while one of the jawans suffered serious injuries,” he added. 

The soldier later succumbed to injuries, according to officials. Two more militants were killed in the counter-infiltration operation. 

This is the second infiltration bid by armed militants that has been foiled by the security forces along the Line of Control in Kashmir. 

On Tuesday, an infiltration bid was foiled in Machhil sector of Kupwara district. The two-day operation left one militant dead while one soldier laid down his life. Four other jawans were also injured in the operation.
