The deceased were identified as K Prasenjit Ghosh, (23) and M Arpita Pal (20), both from Bankura in West Bengal.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo checked into the lodge on Saturday around 9 pm. They claimed to be a married couple.

On Wednesday morning, one of the staff noticed foul smell emanating from the room and alerted the lodge management. The lodge manager, Chelladurai, alerted the police after which the door was opened with a master key.
