The state was ordered to release 1.10 TMC water per day to Tamil Nadu but it was dishonoured due to severe protests and agitations in Karnataka. The then Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa filed a contempt petition after which Karnataka offered to release 0.50 tmcft of water per day citing the poor storage.
