Sources said that Mani (21), a resident of Dodda Reddy Kuppam in Sengarai was returning home from a grocery shop at Uthukkottai on his motorbike. 

While he was passing through Perandur, suddenly a fox crossed the road. As Mani hit the animal he lost balance and fell on the road. He sustained serious injuries. 

The fox also suffered injuries, but managed to escape from the spot. Passersby rescued Mani and rushed him to the Uthukkottai government hospital. However, Mani succumbed to injuries at the hospital without responding to the treatment. 

Uthukkottai police have registered a a case and are investigating.
