PYONGYANG (North Korea): North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered his country's military to intensify war preparations in line with the requirements of the prevailing situation,Al Jazeera reported quoting the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). On Monday, KCNA quoted an unnamed spokesperson for North Korea's Ministry of Defence urging Seoul and Washington to cease their "reckless" and "frantic war drills."

The US and South Korea "will be made to pay a dear price for their false choice", the spokesperson added. In Thursday's report, KCNA did not mention whether Kim directly referred to the Freedom Shield drills.
