KRISHNAGIRI: The protest of women workers of TATA Electronics staying in the firm's hostel entered its third day on Thursday. The stir continued at the hostel premises in Kelamangalam in Krishnagiri, demanding a crackdown on the entire network involved in fixing a camera in the bathroom.

The workers abstained from work and continued their protest by shouting slogans in the hostel premises. When some workers insisted on packing their bags and leaving for their hometowns, the hostel wardens refused to let them go, triggering a heated quarrel at the entrance.

While the Uddanapalli police have arrested Neelu Kumari Gupta (22), a worker from Odisha, a search is on to arrest her boyfriend, Ravi Pradap Singh of Bihar. She claimed to have placed the camera on her boyfriend's insistence. A special team of police has reached Bihar to search for him.

"Only his arrest will reveal the real motive behind fixing the camera and whether any videos were shared on social media," said a cop privy to the investigation.

Meanwhile, a ten-member technical team of experts from the firm's Delhi and Bengaluru offices arrived and thoroughly searched all the rooms of the hostel to ascertain the presence of any other cameras. A large number of police personnel have been deployed at the hostel to prevent any untoward incident.

Earlier in the day, media reports said Neelu Kumari Gupta's friend, Santhosh (25), was arrested in Bengaluru.
