CM Stalin, other INDIA bloc leaders condole CPI leader Sudhakar Reddy’s demise

CM Stalin condoles death of Sudhakar Reddy (Daily Thanthi)

CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin, CPI state secretary R Mutharasan and TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai expressed their condolences to the family of Sudhakar Reddy, former general secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI), who passed away on Friday night in Hyderabad.

In his condolence message, Stalin said that he was deeply saddened by the passing of “Comrade Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy.”

“From his early days as a student leader to his service in Parliament and later as the CPI’s national leader, Thiru SudhakarReddy devoted his life to the struggles of workers, farmers, and the marginalised,” he said in a social media post.

Stalin added that he had personally witnessed Sudhakar Reddy’s warmth and clarity of thought during his many visits to Tamil Nadu, including visits made to conduct talks on alliance and his presence at Kalaignar’s (M Karunanidhi) memorial event.” His life will continue to inspire the fight for justice and dignity. Condolences to his family, colleagues, and comrades,” he said.

Mutharasan said that the demise of the former general secretary of the party was an irreparable loss to the Communist movement and to the secular democratic struggle in the country. He also announced that party flags in Tamil Nadu would be flown at half-mast for three days as a mark of respect.

In his condolence message, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai said Reddy was a lifelong defender of the working class, who had strengthened the Communist movement from his youth through leadership roles in the AISF, All India Youth Federation and All India Trade Union Congress. He recalled his significant contributions not only to the CPI but also to the global Communist movement, as well as his role as an MP and Telangana legislator.
