NEET-UG 2022 exam results to be declared tomorrow

At least 31,803 students appeared for the exam in Tamil, which is about 60 per cent higher than 2021. The examination centres have been allotted in as many as 31 exam center districts in the State.

CHENNAI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET) 2022 on Wednesday. The examination was conducted across the country on July 17.

A total of 18 lakh students are awaiting the results, and over 2.5 lakh have additionally appeared for the exam compared to last year. In Tamil Nadu, as many as 1,42,286 candidates registered for NEET-UG 2022, which is 20 per cent more whereas last year 1.12 lakh candidates had registered for the examination.

The highest application before this was in 2019, where 1.4 lakh students had applied and this year, the numbers increased further. Tamil Nadu stands third in the total number of applications after Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

Dr P Vasanthamani, former selection committee secretary said, "Based on the results, the cut off marks will be assessed further. It is expected to remain stable like the previous year, but the chances of cut off marks being reduced are less in Tamil Nadu."

She added that as far as medical seats in the state colleges are concerned, last year more than 1,550 MBBS seats were allocated, whereas this year it has not increased as expected.
