LS polls: Booth slip distribution begins from today in TN
Accordingly, election workers in each district will distribute the booth slips on door-to-door basis to the voters.
CHENNAI: Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Monday has started distributing voter slips in 16 assembly constituencies. The corporation commissioner J Radhakrishnan said that at least three lakh slips will be distributed by the zonal level officials every day.
"As on March 17, there are 39.25 lakh voters in Chennai district of which 19.28 lakh male, 19.95 female and 1,199 third gender voters. We have started to distribute booth slips to the eligible voters in three constituencies, the officials are instructed to distribute three lakh slips to the public. Also, if the public has any queries regarding voting and others they can ask the officials, " said Radhakrishnan while distributing voter slips at Egmore constituency on Monday.
The district election officer stated that the voter slips will be distributed till April 14.
The corporation has distributed three ballot boxes to north and south constituencies each and two boxes for central Chennai constituency.
As additional ballot boxes are required to the three constituencies, steps have been taken accordingly to provide in the next few days.
So far, the flying squads and static surveillance team has seized Rs 9.13 crore worth cash, gold and other things of which Rs 3.35 crore cash and Rs 5.55 crore worth gold. In addition, the staff drafted for election duty will be allocated from Tuesday.
