Sudha Raghunathan said, “I am extremely happy to be sharing this news with you, my dear friends, well-wishers, and rasikas. It is your appreciation, encouragement, and support throughout these years, that has driven me to perform and keep furthering my goals. I am proud to say that it is after 50 years of Bharat Ratna MS Amma's music at the United Nations, that this choice has been made.”

The performance will also be a fund raising effort to pay for 3,000 free cataract surgeries organised by Sankara Nethralaya, India and Sankara Nethralaya Om Trust, USA.
