Srly issues letter of acceptance for Egmore rly station redevelopment

The Divisional Railway Manager of Chennai on Saturday posted on his official Twitter handle that the first milestone for the transformation of the Chennai Egmore railway station has been achieved. “We will make it a truly world classion station in three years,” the DRM tweeted, announcing the issue of Letter of Acceptance for the Chennai Egmore redevelopment project.

CHENNAI: Redevelopment of the Chennai Egmore station has made a significant headway as the Chennai Division of Southern Railway (SR) has issued Letter of Acceptance for the Chennai Egmore redevelopment project for Rs 734.90 crore.

The Divisional Railway Manager of Chennai on Saturday posted on his official Twitter handle that the first milestone for the transformation of the Chennai Egmore railway station has been achieved. “We will make it a truly world classion station in three years,” the DRM tweeted, announcing the issue of Letter of Acceptance for the Chennai Egmore redevelopment project.

Chennai Egmore was among the nine stations taken up by the railway department in Southern Railways covering Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry for development. Of the nine stations, five are in the State, while three are in Kerala and one in Puducherry. The zone has already awarded contracts for Katpadi, Madurai and Rameswaram in the State. SR is already in the process of preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Kumbakonam, Tirunelveli, Chengannlur and Thrissur stations.
