Duo attacks two of private firm, robs Rs 29 lakh at knife-point

According to the Chetpet police, Santhosh Kumar and Kamalakannan, employees at an automobile spares manufacturing company on Anna Salai, were on their way to Chetpet to deliver Rs 29 lakh to their employer’s friend.

CHENNAI: Two men attacked two employees of an automobile firm and robbed Rs 29 lakh they were carrying to be delivered to their employer’s friend on Thursday night.

According to the Chetpet police, Santhosh Kumar and Kamalakannan, employees at an automobile spares manufacturing company on Anna Salai, were on their way to Chetpet to deliver Rs 29 lakh to their employer’s friend. When near Guruswamy Bridge at Chetpet, an unidentified gang waylaid them, brandishing a knife.

The gang then stole the money at knifepoint and took away their mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Based on a complaint, the Chetpet police started an investigation. Two special teams have been formed to crack the case and apprehend the suspects.
