Unidentified man tries to break 3 ATMs, cops launch manhunt

Police are searching for the unidentified man who tried to break three ATMs in Madipakkam on Tuesday.

CHENNAI: Ponniamman Main Road in Madipakkam is one of the important roads in the locality. A couple of hours after midnight, an unidentified man went inside the SBI ATM kiosk and tried to break the machine. Since he was unable to break it completely, he took the battery and other small electronics from the kiosk.

Police said the same man had also tried to break other ATMs of SBI and Canara Bank in the same street and looted the batteries. The SBI headquarters in Mumbai which noticed the incident alerted the police.

Soon the Madipakkam police visited the spot and found that he had escaped from the spot.

Police said the man was around 30 years of age. He had gone inside the first kiosk at 1.30 am and was in the same street till 2.30 am. The police have registered a case and are trying to identify the robber with the help of CCTV footage.
