20-year-old Salem candidate secures all-India first rank in CA final exam

S Sri Ram, a resident of Salem district has brought laurels to the State by securing the all-India first rank in the Chartered Accountancy (Final) Examination held in May this year.

The results of the examination were announced on Monday. Sri Ram secured 613 marks (76.63 per cent) in the final examination. 

Kantheti Naga Venkata Viswa Upendra from Vijayawada secured the second rank with 610 marks, followed by Yash Manojkumar Goyal of Jamnagar, who bagged the third rank with 599 marks. 

Sri Ram says that he joined Chartered Accountancy course in 2012 with a score of 180 out of 200 marks in the entrance examination and he also secured the top place in the intermediate exam. 

“When I was in school my cousin helped me by creating awareness about the CA course. He told me that by pursuing CA I can get employed or become an entrepreneur too. This made me choose the course after my school education,” the 20 year-old said. 

“Proper time-table for preparation and parents’ motivation are the formula to my success,” says an elated Sri Ram. 

Of the 37,194 students who appeared for Group-1, 5,382 students passed the exam and 36,906 students took Group-2 of which 21.30 per cent (7,864 candidates) cleared the exam.

President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) M Devaraja Reddy said that Chartered Accountancy had been a highly sought after professional course.
