MDMK functionary Velachery Manimaran crosses to DMK

Manimaran, a staunch follower of MDMK leader Vaiko and who has been in the party since its formation, was a key player in organising various activities of the party in the city. During his stint in the MDMK Manimaran had conducted hundreds of public events in the city that evoked good response from the cadre and the public as well. He joined the DMK in the presence of M K Stalin, treasurer of the party.  

The crossover of Manimaran has in fact come as a surprise even for political observers. Manimaran along with his supporters came to the Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters, met treasurer M K Stalin and expressed his wish to join the party. Manimaran joined the DMK in the presence of Stalin and other senior DMK functionaries, including R S Bharathi, Rajya Sabha MP and organising secretary, M Subramanian, district secretary, actor ‘Vagai’ Chandrasekar and others. 

MDMK district youth wing Secretary Mohan Raj and 75 other functionaries also joined the DMK along with Manimaran. The new entrants also said that a majority of the cadres in MDMK would be joining the DMK soon. Manimaran said that he was disappointed with Vaiko as he was only keen on decimating the DMK and never thought about strengthening the MDMK in the State. “So, me and my supporters decided to return to the parent party.”
