Russia to destroy ‘last chemical weapons’: Putin

“Today the last chemical ammunition from Russian chemical weapons stockpiles will be destroyed,” Putin said, quoted by Russian news agencies. 

“Unfortunately the US is not observing the deadline for disposing of its chemical weapons. They have pushed the date back three times, citing a lack of funding. This, frankly, sounds strange,” he added. 

The president hailed the Russian development as a “historic event”, saying that delivering on his promise to destroy the country’s arsenal on Wednesday (GMT) should encourage other nations to do the same.
