With a competitive pricing of Rs 39,000, and smaller in size, Apple’s new iPhone SE, will hit Indian markets next month
California
While smartphones are growing in size, and following the ‘bigger is better’ trend, Apple has gone in for a size cut, in its newest version, which was unveiled late Monday. The sleek new iPhone SE will, for the first time, feature a 4 inch screen, smaller than the 4. 7 inch screen of iPhone 6. . It will be available in four colours, black, white, gold and rose gold. Its innards remain the same as iPhone 6s, launched last year.
With double the processing power and four times the graphics performance of the iPhone 5S, and a longer battery life, the iPhone SE is expected to be attractive to both first-time buyers looking for a sleek iPhone and those who would like to upgrade. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said over 60 % of iPhone users have not upgraded to 6 or other versions. Analysts believe Apple sees a huge potential in this segment as well. There are very few smartphones in this size, hence the new iPhone SE is expected to do well in many markets.
Intel’s Andy Grove no more:
Andy Grove, the Silicon Valley elder statesman who made Intel into the world’s top chip-maker and helped usher in the personal computer age, died on Tuesday at age 79, Intel said. Grove, who endured the Nazi occupation of Hungary during World War Two, lived under a fake name, and came to US to escape the chaos of Soviet rule, had suffered from Parkinson’s. He was Intel’s first hire after it was founded in 1968 and became the practical-minded member of a triumvirate that eventually led “Intel Inside” processors to be used in more than 80 percent of the world’s personal computers. His motto “only the paranoid survive,” became the title of his best-selling management book.
