Can a mother drink wine while she is breastfeeding? —Nandhini S, Nandanam
Regularly drinking more than two units of alcohol a day while breastfeeding may actually affect your baby’s development – there are studies that have also proven that. However, an occasional drink is not necessarily harmful. It is recommended that breastfeeding mothers should have no more than one or two units of alcohol once or twice a week. But do not breastfeed while or just after drinking.
