Fitness Mantra: Yami wants to experiment and push herself
Actress Yami Gautam has been testing her physical prowess — from trying mixed martial arts to pole workout, she wants to know what benefits the various exercises offer.

A fitness enthusiast, Yami doesn’t confine herself to the gym. “I’ve joined Aarifa Bhinderwala’s pole dancing class. The whole idea came because of my love for fitness and dance and that is something I enjoy doing now.
Pole dancing is a great way to work on your fitness ability and your dance. It challenges the fitness level a lot more. So I thought this could be something additional which until now I could not have imagined myself doing. Now, I am in a phase where I want to experiment, push myself and my limit and this thought only come from one’s mind. Nobody put this thought in my head, it stems from my own will and passion,” Yami said.
In order to slip into the role of an intelligence officer in her next outing Uri, Yami has also taken up Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). “I want to do justice to my character in the film.
MMA is crucial for the role I play and intense training is underway. The training would help me better my body language. Playing an intelligence officer on screen demands a certain degree of discipline. I need to have a certain kind of body language, one that’s tough. These sessions will help me achieve that,” added the fitnes junkie.
Yami is a big believer in natural detoxes and starts her day with a detox drink of pomegranate juice to cleanse her system.
She eats one egg white sandwich with banana shake and a handful of almonds for breakfast. The actress makes sure to have a bowl of fruits before lunch and for lunch she opts for dal, chicken or vegetable curry with chapatti.
