    If you’re wondering what it takes for Radhika Apte to look eternally so gorgeous, you’ve reached the right place. They say toxins are best flushed out of the body through one and only one ‘detox’ drink and that’s water. 

    The Padman actress concurs — she loves starting her day or quenching her thirst at any given time with either Berocca or sparkling water. The essential vitamins and minerals (calcium, magnesium and zinc) in these act as agents that boost mental and physical energy. 

    She seems to be quite the water baby — apart from the usual yoga and running, Apte indulges in hydrotherapy, the use of a swimming pool and special exercise as part of a fitness regime. Well, isn’t that a great tip to beat the scorching Chennai heat? Ayurveda has it that there are different edibles one can consume during different 

    seasons of the year to  balance the body and doshas like vata, kapha and pitta. 

    So, it is essential, feels Radhika, to maintain a balanced diet and eat the freshest of ingredients available during summer. Whether it’s the herbs that merrily sprout in her  garden at home, or the food her husband puts together for her: toast, avocado, poached egg, and smoked salmon; grilled mushrooms with parsley and some blue cheese and honey — these are her go-to options. So, avoid deep-fried and oily food as well as  spice during the hotter  months.

    But predominantly, there is one fitness mantra that she urges everyone to follow and that is to be happy! Most people lose out on a good night’s sleep; thus it affects their ‘happiness quotient’, which can take a huge hit on mental health and productivity. 

    This can give rise to eating disorders or even body shaming issues. No matter how much one works out or what they eat, it won’t matter if they’re not happy or confident about their body  and personality no matter how it is, so smile and be happy — that’s the best beauty secret and Apte certainly lives by this!
