How should one get rid of rashes caused due to heat?

    Varun S, Egmore
You can apply calamine lotion externally and if itching is felt, take an antihistamine tablet. Avoid stepping out in the heat. Stay indoors or in cooler places. Avoid wearing clothes made of synthetic fabrics or denims. Cotton is the best for summer months. Wear loose fitting clothes. Keep the body cool at all times by drinking plenty of water. You can also have fruit juices and tender coconut. Whenever you get home after venturing out in the hot sun, try to wash away the sweat. All these measures will all help reduce your body heat.

Many residents in my locality are developing fever. There are also a number of mosquitoes in many areas. How do we make sure that we do not fall prey to
    dengue or other diseases?
    Inbavalli M, Chromepet

Ensure that all those who are sick go to a government hospital for a check-up. Never ignore fevers, especially if many people in your locality are falling sick at the same time. Avoid visiting an unqualified doctor. Maintaining cleanliness is the key to controlling mosquito menace. Keep areas around the houses and within clean. Stored water must be kept closed. Do not leave plastic containers or any open bottles lying around, as they turn breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
