Fitness, food go hand in hand
The world is striving for a better tomorrow. Every advancement and development we make is to ensure that the next generation has more convenience and a better future. And the future is nothing but our children.
Chennai
Real development can be achieved only when we have achieved good health of our children; both in body and mind. Only with good health can they absorb and express knowledge and joy.Â
WHO confirms that worldwide, child health is deteriorating rapidly. Wrong nutrition is the main cause. Even for relaxation, elders expose children to technology that involves non-essential and wild visual engagement which affects vision and the brain function of the child.Â
Children’s lost health can be regained and good health maintained with three life essentials; proper food, right exercise and prayer.Â
Food for energy and immunityÂ
Caring for health in childhood is the foundation for life. Right nutrition is important and even more important is to stop foods that harm. More children are affected due to improper nutrition than mal nutrition in which carbonated drinks and junk foods top the list. Children cannot consciously avoid these substances so it’s our responsibility to ensure they avoid it because they lower a child’s immunity and healing.Â
Children should have at least one fruit a day and not as juice. This helps increase appetite and aids digestion by secreting more digestive enzymes. Â '
Exercise for health and fitnessÂ
During their growth phase, a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity is a must for a child. This increases cardio vascular strength and releases tension in the body due to the competitive environment they live in. Other benefits are increase in bone strength and higher calcium absorption. There is an increase in endurance, flexibility and stamina with better nervous coordination and increased muscle power. Â
Prayer for self-confidenceÂ
Mental disorders and stress are rooted in low self-esteem or lack of confidence. Prayer before sleep and on waking up will give humongous benefits and works wonders for a child’s self-confidence. But prayer isn’t about rituals, mantras and idols. As per Manu Shastra; prayer should include three aspects; first –Thank the Almighty for the power to learn and do what one wants to do. Second, gratitude for all things living and non-living that give joy and comfort. Third, gratitude for one’s parents, teachers and food. Sick individuals can create a sick future.Â
So, for a better future the entire world needs to focus on the health of our children because children are the future; of the family, the nation and the world.Â
