Growing popularity of Zumba
When I started out four years ago, I had a tough time getting people to sign up for the class. There have been times when I’ve had to cancel classes because there were not more than two takers. Today, whenever I’m in the city, the sessions are sold-out in no time. I have kids as young as 10, elderly men and even women wearing sarees, having a lot of fun dancing their way to fitness.
Reason for success
The best thing about Zumba is the fact that it’s not monotonous – there is no fixed pattern to follow like a regular gym workout. It’s constantly evolving with time and very inclusive. There is no age limit, no discrimination on sex, your size or where you come from. Anyone can do it and it is a people-centric workout.
How has Zumba changed your life?
My principles in life complement what Zumba stands for. I love interacting with people, which has made me extremely compassionate and less judgemental. Secondly, there is a sense of liberation when you do Zumba. There are no boundaries. Last but not the least, it’s all about learning.
