Three secrets for a healthy heart and a healthy life
The importance of the heart to being healthy cannot be over emphasised. Blood is the elixir of life and the heart is the master of blood. In the hierarchy of vital organ health, the heart tops the list because from one’s very first breath to the last; it’s the heart that is responsible for circulating oxygenated blood to every cell in the body.

The health of the heart is damaged and disturbed mainly by two factors — bad calcium and excess cholesterol. We’re all aware that we need to exercise for a strong, healthy heart but exercise in isolation without the right lifestyle choices is not just useless but damaging to the body. Following are the three untold secrets that are a must to maintain a healthy heart.
Right way of exercise: The body needs moderate, consistent and continuous exercise rather than a rigorous routine for a short period of time. One should understand that exercise is not an action done in isolation; it is a way of life. Exercise can never have a holiday or a Sunday. Moderate exercise done with commitment is needed throughout life to maintain optimal cardio vascular respiratory function.
Bad diet with good exercise will have negative impact on heart: Exercise helps reduce cholesterol and bad calcium. But when exercise is combined with bad diet; it increases the absorption of not just the nutrients but also bad cholesterol from the food consumed. The result is high cholesterol in the body in spite of exercise. Good exercise therefore needs to be accompanied with a healthy and nutritious diet.
Bad habits with good exercise will cause irreversible damage to heart: Bad habits with good exercise will cause irreversible damage to heart: A person who exercises regularly has optimal levels of calcium and cholesterol. But when exercise is combined with bad habits like smoking the absorption and accumulation of bad calcium is higher causing permanent damage to vital organs. For instance, pranayama has immense proven benefits for the respiratory system and the heart. But if pranayama is accompanied with smoking the capacity of the lungs is increased not only to absorb oxygen but also the nicotine they are subjected to.
It’s wonderful to set goals for health but good health is only achieved in a holistic way. One’s effort on exercise only counts when it is built on the foundation of good habits, nutritious diet and discipline. Exercise with bad habits will have an irreversible damage to the health and heart. Either say no to smoking, no to junk food or say no to exercise. Aham Brahmasmi!!
