Keeping your hair and skin safe this Holi
Holi is here and so is the urge to play with vibrant colours. But playing with colours also means that your skin is exposed to rash chemicals used in the colours. Here are a few tips to get rid of Holi colours effectively and protect your skin and hair.

Pre-Holi Ritual
- If you have a dry skin, moisturise your skin until it turns normal. This will prevent the skin from becoming drier while playing with colours.
- It is best to wear clothes that allows minimal skin exposure. By that, most of your skin will be saved from the abrasive chemicals.

- It is very important to apply oil especially behind ears and nails because this is where colours settle in and it is too tough to remove it. By applying oil before hand, colours can be easily washed.
- Tie your hair as much as possible. This prevents hair from getting exposed to colours.
- The night before Holi, massage your head using coconut oil. This helps nourish your hair and also prevents damage & drying because of Holi colours.
Post-Holi Ritual
- To effortlessly remove the colours from your skin, mix curd and two tablespoons of lemon juice and apply this mixture. Shower with lukewarm water.
- To get rid of colours from hair, wash first with cold water and then shampoo and condition it. Do not use hot water as it will leave the colours stick to roots.
- You can also try this hair mask. In a bowl, take a tablespoon of coconut oil and olive oil each, mix a teaspoon of shampoo, conditioner, vinegar, glycerin and castor oil to it. Apply this mixture to your hair and leave it for an hour. Rinse it thoroughly.
