The iPhone 11 and all key announcements from Apple’s annual event
Apple kept its date on September 10, 2019, its biggest annual event where it unveiled the latest iPhone line-up. This year, just like 2018, it was three iPhones and it confirmed most of the pre-launch ‘leaks’ that predicted that we wouldn’t see a radical refresh of the iPhone or the Apple Watch. We’ve rounded up some of the key highlights from Apple’s September event.

The iPhone 11: Apple might have nailed its India pricing with its entry-level iPhone. Priced from Rs 64,900 (for the 64GB version), this might just be the iPhone that most consumers will gravitate towards. The iPhone 11 is powered by the same new generation A13 bionic chip in the pricier 11 Pro and Pro Max. It makes a big jump over the camera in the 2018 iPhone XR – this one’s kitted with a dual cam that brings ultra-wide photography (with a 120-degree field of view) and Apple’s New Night Mode.
The formidable iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max: A triple rear cam was long overdue on an iPhone. Both these devices come with Apple’s new triple cam and promise terrific lowlight images. The new Night mode snaps multiple images even as OIS (Optical image stabilisation) steadies the lens. Both these devices come with a sharp OLED display that packs 458 Pixels per inch. The 11 Pro(Rs 99,900 onwards) weighs 188 gm, slightly more than last year’s iPhone XS but Apple has also promised better battery life (4 hours over the XS). The 11 Pro Max (Rs 109,900) is aimed at those who lean towards the most expensive iPhone and also for those who prefer their smartphone screen for Netflix Marathons and binge watching.
Apple TV+:Apple’s new video subscription service goes live on November 1, and is priced atRs 99/month. Apple has already announced an impressive line-up including shows by Oprah Winfrey and big ticket dramas like the Morning Show, starring and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, and starring Steve Carell. This service is available across Apple devices - like Apple TV and the iPad, and also a whole host of Samsung smart TVs.
Apple Watch 5: last year’s Apple Watch 4 was probably the biggest upgrade of Apple’s popular smartwatch. An ‘always-on’ display is the biggest change in this year’s Apple Watch 5 (Rs 40,900 onwards). It’s not just glancing at your watch for the time but its handy to have your metrics available during workouts, whether you’re at the gym or in the pool. The new iPad: adds welcome functionality to Apple’s entry-level iPad. The new iPad (from Rs 29,900) expands the (Retina) display to 10.2-inches. It also adds Apple Pencil (First generation) and full-size smart keyboard support for the iPad. Add Apple’s new iPad OS and your iPad can become a serious productivity device.
