Smartphones, accessories that also make style statements
The action hots up in the ultra-competitive sub Rs 20,000 segment. Vivo Z1Pro is the newest device that joins popular devices like the Samsung Galaxy M40 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Vivo has kitted this device with a versatile camera; it’s also among the first smartphones in India with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 Processor under the hood.

A glossy, gradient finish is soon becoming a standard at this price point. These textures are more subtle in the Sonic Black colour variant, but more flashy in the Sonic Blue option. There’s a dimpled fingerprint sensor on the rear, while the other distinct design element is the triple rear cam. It combines a 16MP (f/1.78 aperture) primary lens, an 8MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP Bokeh lens for portrait shots. It’s quite a solid package — one that compares favourably with its rivals in the same price band. The Z1Pro sports a vivid 6.53-inch FHD+ display that pushes the screen-to-body ratio beyond 90 per cent, according to Vivo. There’s a tiny punch hole that makes room for the 32MP selfie cam, one that’s quite easy to ignore.
Colours are quite vibrant. The display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio crams close to 400 pixels per inch. Vivo offers a choice of three hardware variants — 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB that team up with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor. It’s a solid package, enough to keep this device chugging along. The Z1Pro boasts of a 5000 mAh battery; it’s quite robust — you probably won’t reach out for your charger for a day and a half. This large battery adds to the heft of the device pushing it over 200 gms. That might be a fair compromise for power users who will also approve of the fast charging option. It’s disappointing to see a micro USB charging slot though. The Vivo Z1Pro packs quite a few features, including a massive battery and a triple cam.(Rs 14,999 onwards)
