Apple’s September 12 event: What can be expected this year?

As over the past decade, This year also seems to have new iPhones in the lineup with iPhone X successor with a 5.8-inch OLED model, possibly named the iPhone Xs; a larger 6.5-inch OLED model called the iPhone Xs Plus; and a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD model that could be named the iPhone Xc which would be a less than USD 1000 variant but set to hit the stores later this year.

Apple Inc became the first $1 trillion publicly listed US company on August 2, crowning a decade-long rise fueled by its ubiquitous iPhone that transformed it from a niche player in personal computers into a global powerhouse spanning entertainment and communications.

The prices of latest phones, according to tech pundits and rumour website websites, are expected to anywhere from between $900 for the cheap LCD model iPhone which could end up being a China specific model and over $1000 for the OLED model iPhone X successor with the Indian pricing likely going to be over Rs 60,000 up to Rs 1 Lakh.

There are also new models of iPad and its pro variants expected to launch this year as according to MacRumours, Apple’s 2018 iPad Pro models will  have improved battery specs for the tablet besides specs upgrade and FaceID support.

The latest series of Apple watch-Apple watch 4 is expected to release with new watch faces, build materials and improved heart monitoring sensors.

People are also looking forward to a complete revamp of the macbook Air model which has stayed on par with sub par non retina display since its launch 10 years ago and very minimal processor upgrades with people expecting retina displays on the new model with new processors, considering the macbook pro 2018 lineup was updated to Intel Coffee Lake or Amber Lake processors in June and the last spec update to the Air had been in 2017.

Besides the product launches, September 12 will also see the public launch of iOs 12 which is going to bring about improved memory and battery optimization and smoother interface as compared to iOs 11 which launched last year and had been quite buggy in most of its iterations of the mobile os with sub par battery life and memory stuttering as part of the iOS 11 experience, and will be made downloadable in the coming weeks.

Also expected with iOs 12 is improved command recognition with SIRI across iOs platforms, improved security features and patches beside unlocking the NFC chips on iOS devices for purposes like auto pairing with bluetooth speakers, downloading and backing up photos , other than apple pay which is unlikely to happen considering apple’s closed sources architecture.

As for the Desktop MacOS, Mac OS 12 Mojave, which was announced at the WWDC event earlier in June this year is going to bring iOS apps like apple news, voice notes to the desktop besides improved search capabilities besides dark mode and improved dynamic desktops besides offering final support to 32 bit softwares .
